General Questions

What are the main differences between PDAs and the Limousine product?
The main difference is that the Limousine is a system that is installed in your vehicle; therefore, it cannot be taken with you when leaving the car. In summary the address can be located, but if it is necessary to walk to the destination, the equipment cannot be taken with you and utilised whilst walking. Only the iGO system runs on the equipment, therefore, unlike PDAs, it cannot be used for anything else. The car displays are not touch screen, therefore, the primary screen controls do not work on the SD card version. A remote control is provided instead, which enables quick and easy access to all the program functions.

I have used iGO My Way navigation in the past. Is the operation of the Nav N Go Limousine the same?
The Nav N Go Limousine software is in fact very similar where its basic functions are concerned, it is almost the same as the iGO My Way software, and is therefore very easy to learn to use. The most significant difference is in the use of the menu system and its structure, as this can be operated by remote control.
The remote control and the menu system are completely synchronised with each other and most of the functions can be either accessed directly or located with a few steps. More detail about this can be found in the User Manual.

Is the map coverage the same as that of the iGO My Way software?
Yes. Our maps come from the same source and are connected to the software by the same technique and compression method. We store all the maps on the SD card. Only one map package is available for the Limousine product and this is Version No. 2007.10. the Complete European Package.

What is on the SD card?
We fitted the Nav N Go Limousine with a unique logo, a normal 2GB size SD card, where both the navigational software and the maps of all the European countries are stored. The SD card is in the equipment, which can be found in the SD reader after installation, it is not packaged separately. Always keep the SD card in the equipment, we do not recommend and it is not necessary to remove it regularly.

Can I also use the SD card in other mobile handsets?
The software on the SD card is specifically designed for the Nav N Go Limousine system and operates with the equipment and the remote control supplied. It is not compatible with PDA or PNA types of products. It cannot be used with these or run other iGO solutions. The software cannot be copied and it will not work in other equipment.

How can I update the software?
The updates will be available on SD card as the product is an in-built device. Updates will be officially released by Nav N Go and it will be announced on the website under the Update Menu, and throughout our distributors. Installation workshops will be also available to get the support.

How will I know when an update is available?
You can find out about the update on the home page of the product, or also via the installation workshops. The first full package, software and map update is expected to come in 2008 summer.

Can it operate a touch screen?
This solution does not support the touch screen. This ensures the greatest compatibility with the screens. The remote control is synchronised to the equipment and software, therefore, there is no need to use a touch screen. The remote control was designed taking both ergonomics and functionality into account.

Can I continue to use the factory installed screen for other purposes?
Yes. The Nav N Go Limousine is a combined tool and navigation. If it is not used, the original applications appear and can be launched from the screen and central unit. It does not cut off and does not change the elements and the use of the original multimedia system.

My car has a factory installed navigation system. What happens to this after the installation? Will that become inaccessible?
By integrating the Limousine, you choose which navigation to use. The factory installed navigation remains accessible and operates in the normal way, but if the Limousine is used, they cannot run in parallel. Normally factory installations run from a DVD and they are operated from a touch screen. The Limousine however, is on an SD card and operated by a separate GPS receptor and remote control.

Use

Does the safety precaution reminder appear every time I switch it on?
Yes, it is a basic function that the user is informed about the safe application of the equipment. If you use the equipment as a driver, we recommend that you set the parameters of the Nav N Go Limousine program before the start of your journey. Plan the journey before you start off, and stop when you need to amend the parameters.

Is there a safe operation mode in the equipment? Why?
The Nav N Go Limousine also has an integrated (optional) safe operational mode, which prevents the use of program functions when the vehicle is moving. If it is not solely the passenger using the Nav N Go Limousine system, we strongly recommend that you do not switch off the safe operational mode. It is also of the utmost importance that you only look at the screen when it is completely safe to do so. The driver must always pay attention to the road whilst driving.

How can I switch off the equipment?
You can switch off the equipment by holding down the narrow dark red POWER button on the bottom right of the remote control.

Where do I have to point the remote control during use?
The infra remote control can be used by pointing it towards the sensor. Do not direct the remote control towards the screen or anywhere else on the box, but to where the infra-receptor was placed by the service station. It is important that the receptor is located on the dashboard, it should be clearly visible to you and located close to both you and the receptor.

How do I use the remote control?
The remote control in the box was specifically designed for the Nav N Go Limousine product, it can be accessed direct via a number of frequently used functions, without even having to go into the menu. Only controls that appear on the screen can be accessed via the remote control. When pressing the OK button, the function selected is shown outlined in white, and other options can be selected by using the arrow buttons, otherwise numbers will appear to indicate if the function can be launched by selecting one of the numerical buttons.

Installation

In what type of car can the equipment be installed?
The equipment can be installed in any type of car, irrespective of the year or make. The installation is the most important aspect - whether the car already has a built-in screen or factory navigation system, or whether with the Limousine product it is possible to select a separate monitor or multimedia system. In both cases we recommend that you consult our specialists about the options and the recommended solution.

What other accessories may be necessary during installation?
No monitor or display is supplied with the equipment. If you do not yet have a monitor or display, this gives you the option to choose. It is not necessary to incur additional costs for those who already have a factory installed screen in the car. In order to be connected to the factory installed multimedia or navigational system, we recommend an installation of a multimedia adapter/interface, which can be ordered separately for each model.

Where exactly can the individual elements be installed?
Due to the compact nature of the main unit, it can fit neatly into the glove compartment, in the boot or behind the seats – as long as it is located where it can be connected to the existing elements. The GPS receptor can be placed in the passenger compartment, onto the windscreen, hidden behind or next to the front mirror, or in line with the brake light fitted into the rear window. The GPB must not be obscured from view. The remote control’s infra-red receptor may also be fitted, if necessary, to certain areas of the dashboard, by taking into consideration the driver’s habits whilst using the equipment.

What outlets can be found on the equipment?
Sound outlet: has its own end point, from where the speaker purchased with the set produces a perfectly audible sound. If a separate amplifier was connected to it or if it is to be connected to the inlet of the factory made sound system, the sound outlet may be reconfigured to a standard RCA level outlet.
Video outlet: There is a choice between the composite video and RGB connection, depending on the display inlet, as the Limousine has both outlets. Unfortunately vehicles rarely have a standard video inlet, in such cases it is necessary to use an optional video-module.

What do we know about the inlet signs?
GPS receptor: Part of the Limousine package is a SIRFIII high-sensitivity GPS receptor, which must be placed inside the vehicle to ensure the sky is visible at the greatest possible angle.
Infra: The equipment is operated by an infra-red remote control. In order to receive the remote control signal, we need to install an infra-eye, which comes as part of the basic package.

What monitors or displays are the best for the product?
It can be used with any monitor with an audio-video inlet. Colour monitors, 5-7” TV panels, 2 DIN system displays and factory solutions developed in the past few years can all be connected to the equipment.

Can I install the product into my car?
Although installation guidance is provided with the product, the manufacturer and the distributor recommend that installation of the Nav N Go Limousine product is undertaken at a specialist service workshop and therefore, the partner network and sale of the product are also through this network. The guarantee does not cover home installation.

I can see that the equipment comes with a cigarette lighter connector. Do I have to use that?
The use of the cigarette lighter is optional, in most cases the equipment can be connected to the main ignition or main circuit of the car, and this ensures that the cables are completely hidden in the dashboard, and, at the same time, the electrical supply is not compromised.

How can the speaker be connected to the equipment?
The speaker use can also be decided at the time of installation. You can use an external speaker, which is provided with the equipment; in which case the equipment is connected to the radio/cd unit of the car. The equipment has an amplifier; and is therefore capable of amplifying the speaker.
However, you can decide to connect the equipment to the hi-fi unit in the car, and in that event the voice instructions come via the speakers installed.

How long does it take to install it into my car?
If the necessary accessories (monitors, multimedia adapter) are available, the product installation may only take one or two days. The duration of the work may change however, depending on the quality expectation of the car owner, or according to the type of the vehicle (higher category, uncommon types).
If installed along with other products (alarm, further multimedia applications), the workshop will be able to give you a timescale.

What guarantee applies to the equipment and the installation?
The equipment has a one year guarantee from installation, which is provided by a guarantee certificate for the Nav N Go Limousine product. If the product develops a fault during the guarantee period, please contact the workshop who carried out the installation. In order to ensure the guarantee remains valid, you must have the invoice or receipt confirming the installation and the guarantee certificate stating the manufacturer’s product number. For further information, please read the guidelines outlined on the guarantee certificate.

I would like an extra remote control, is that possible?
Yes, the remote control may be ordered separately, as an optional extra.
